Does this count as a running joke?

So our up coming movie is about running, but I know I’ve been miserable the past couple of days with a cold exacerbated by allergies which means my nose has also been running!

When I first met Shannon, and even after we were married, I ran a lot. Once, as a farce, I asked Shannon, “What do you love most about me? My tremendous athletic ability or my superior intellect?”.

Shannon tactfully responded, “What I love most about you, is your running sense of humor.”

Did you hear about the marathon runner who ran for three hours but only moved two feet?

He only had two feet!

I was recently considering getting back into running, so I checked out a gym that had some mediocre new running machines. I thought they were pretty ‘run of the mill’.

Our movie this coming week, Wednesday the 20th at 7PM, is the classic Chariots of Fire. It’s based on the true story of two British athletes in the 1924 Olympics: Eric Liddell, a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of God, and Harold Abrahams, an English Jew who runs to overcome prejudice.

I should probably mention what else we have coming up in the not too distant future:

  • Friday, September 15th, 6:30ish – 9ish, Board Game Night ~ This has long been a tradition to come in on a Friday and have fun playing games.
  • Saturday, September 16th, 1PM – 3PM, Tech Help ~ We are a handful of tech heads that like technology and would like to help you with your stuff. We can help with cell phone, tablet, and computer problems/questions. We can talk with you about the latest tech like streaming TV, home security, cyber security, etc. This is all done for free, you just need to come in and ask for help. We will also be offering some free classes in the future, so let us know what you want to know more about.
  • Saturday, September 16th, 7PM – 8:30PM, Bereans Group ~ This group, which is open to the public, is discussing what our attitude should be in prayer.
  • Tuesday, September 19th, 7PM – 8:30PM, Bible Study ~ We are studying the Book of Exodus. The Hebrews just finished escaping from the Egyptians, but this reminds me of a little known fact. Who is the fastest runner of all time? Adam, because he came first in the human race!

As we’ve recently started selling board games at Lost and Found, I decided to highlight a board game that also involves some running as you try to escape from various situations in Star Wars: Unlock!

This game contains three separate cooperative adventures. One as a member of the Rebel alliance that has to escape the ice planet of Hoth, the second you are a smuggler in the Outer Rim, and in the last you are an Imperial spy trying to infiltrate the holy city of Jedha.

You and your teams may need to engage their hyper-drives to get out of these situations.

Now for the part everyone always asks about, the actual food! Our soup is our very popular chicken tortilla soup and our sandwich is our delicious kielbasa! Our specialty ice creams are Blueberry Cheesecake and Brown Butter Bourbon Truffle.

Thanks and God bless,
Sean
