I was recently asked that very question. I responded that it was the one from Sesame Street. They tried to tell me he doesn’t count, but I assured them he does.

I loved Transformers as a kid, but their toys were out my parents’ price range when I was growing up. I did have a couple Gobots and I used to pretend that my tinker toys could make cool Transformers, but that fantasy always fell flat the moment one of my friends would show up with Optimus Prime or Starscream. Now as a middle aged adult I’m well passed complaining about how expensive toys are. Now I complain about the cost of health insurance. My 2023 health insurance premiums went up 40% but I’m expecting to pay 30% less than the previous year. I won’t have any money left for food or mortgage so I’ll probably die half way through the year.

Because it lost its contacts.
Some of you may have noticed that we are temporarily having some phone problems. We actually use VOIP phones which has specific requirements from our internet connection. Our internet service provider has, unfortunately, broken our phones. We are in the process of making some changes to get everything working correctly again, but it will like take till the 18th to complete. In the meantime we have all of our phone lines forwarded to just one cellphone. We are trying our best to respond to everyone as quickly as possible, and we appreciate everyone’s continued patience while we manage this process.
I have started to wonder what kinds of textspeak I will use as a senior citizen. The following is a brief list of what I have come up with so far:
BFF: Best Friend Fainted
BYOT: Bring Your Own Teeth
CBM: Covered by Medicare
FWBB: Friend with Beta-blockers
LMDO: Laughing My Dentures Out
GGPBL: Gotta Go, Pacemaker Battery Low!
We have had lots of opportunity to be a blessing to those struggling with the Medicare Gap! This month alone we have helped approximately 70 community members that have fallen into the gap. That is in addition to all the other things we do to try and help including our essential meds, our work with the Sheep Clinic, and even just helping people get meds for less than their copays. We’ve helped multiple cancer patients save over a thousand dollars each this month just by providing them meds at our cost instead of the price their insurance requested.
We have lots of activities coming up including a Lost and Found field trip, our first rom-com movie, and a LEGO SNOT competition.
This Tuesday Lost and Found will be at the Penn Hills Senior Center talking about medication compliance and different strategies and systems that can be employed. It will hopefully be more fun than the field trip when my fifth grade class went to a funeral home. When we got there the funeral director attempted to open with a joke
Apparently he got it from a cardinal.
So as you may have guessed from our opening joke, we have our flu vaccine in stock. The last couple of years pharmacies have generally run out of inventory pretty quickly, so stop in and get yours soon.
Between 32 raffle baskets and a LEGO competition with three different age categories, there are a whole lot of winners. Before we start listing all of them, I should also remind you of our next movie night coming up in two weeks, LEGO Batman!
I didn’t know what to make of it.
This weekend is our LEGO Competition, followed by our Labor Day cookout on Monday and our big raffle basket drawing.

Medications are an important part of staying healthy for many people; however, it can get complicated. You may be good with a medication box, or using our freely available compliance packs. Some people may want something that can actually remind when their medications are due and track the medications that they only take when they need them. This is where our new product called MyEMMA fits in.
MyEMMA, once plugged in and connected to a wifi signal can get updates directly from the pharmacy when meds are changed and will also let the pharmacy know when you are running low so we can come and add the necessary drugs before you run out. Remote access for monitoring can be shared with a physician or a loved one. MyEMMA will remind you when your medication is due with an audible sound and does provide options to accept or reject medicine. There is also an onscreen option for individuals to take meds that they only need occasionally (including pain meds, medication for nausea, etc.).
Below is a short video on MyEMMA.
Typically, this is a relatively affordable product with no set-up fee and a $130/month lease price and $20/month for the pharmacy to provide the specially packaged medications for the MyEMMA. This gives it a total price tag of $150/month which is a lot less than having a medication service come to you to provide your meds at the appropriate time. That can often cost closer to $700/month. As this is a new product for us as well we are trying to encourage a number of people to take a free two month trial. We are offering this service currently to anyone within 10 miles of our store. If this is something you are interested in or have additional questions please call us at 412-243-1369 or use our contact form.
This is yet another way we are working to be your essential pharmacy.
